Love it!

I got this dictionary in both Polish and Spanish. It is a great introduction to a new language. However, please note that these books do not contain the phonetic transcription, so you must know how to read. You get over 400 words. If you are looking for a great intro Polish curriculum to your elementary children (about 6-7 year olds) buy "Lubie Polski" by Agnieszka Rabiej, where it is also assumed that the teacher speaks the language.

Not as good as it could have been

The packaging on this set is very nice, with fancy binding and classy printing. But as flipbooks, it leaves a bit to be desired. First of all, the binding of the flipbooks makes it very hard to get the pages to flip down flat and the gloss on the paper makes it hard to see the tiny little lines. A few of the scenes are great, but a lot of them are very subtle actions which are great animation, but don't lend themselves to a flipbook. These are also cleanups, so the lines are very thin and tight. I would have preferred drawings that showed the hand of the animator more, not just the assistants. The most baffling thing about this set though is why they only printed on one side of each page. They could have easily put two scenes in each book. It's worth the price because it's very fancy, but I wish they had made it a little less fancy and made better books for flipping.

Maybe it's time for some new drawings

The flip book idea is great. And, to be fair, the art selected for the Kimball book hasn't been previously published --- unfortunately the same can't be said for the drawings used in the rest of the books. Why is it that Pierre Lambert and Christian Renaut find ways of filling their books with absolutely breathtaking, never before seen Disney art while homegrown authors keep using the same old drawings over and over again? If we want Thomas' scene we can go to any of four other previously published animation books. Same goes for Kahl, Lounsbery, Davis, Reitherman or
Clark (anybody seen the catalog for the Chiba exhibit? Or Canemaker's Nine Old Men?). How hard would it be to locate something new and fresh?
And, by the way, the reproduction quality of the Johnston drawings is inexcusable. Doesn't anyone at D23 care?

Wish there was more to it. Only entertaining for a few minutes.

When people say you'll be disappointed you will be disappointed, but not if you know what you're getting. You get nine hard cover books of a character one of the nine old men were famous for animating. The book flips through one single action of that character(s). Some of the movements they chose do not look great when flipped through. Others are very good and interesting. There are about 150 pages to flip through with each book so you get some pretty good movement. Then there is a small 43 page paperback book that gives you a short history of each animator and the animation process.
The whole product is nicely packaged. It is very interesting, but a more in-depth book about the nine old men or Disney animation will give you a lot more. This is more of a novelty gift that you place on a coffee table or the shelf for your guest to flip through. It gets boring very quickly. The price point is a little much for what you're getting.
If you know what's in this collection and that seems interesting to you then you will love seeing the flip books. I like the flip books, but I wish there was more about the nine old men, more about the studio that created these movies and I wish that it had more than just one action to flip through. For me it was just okay.

WOW!! Amazing!! Kelly you did it again!! Grace is so much like Ari!!! Mother like daughter!! This books is filled with emotion!!! I loved how we were able to see a little bit more of Jeff and Ari in this book!!! Uncle Matt also was in this book and he is sooo funny!! I love Matt and that he was able to come into this book and make it complete with Jeff and Ari!!! Can Noah and Grace work out one of the biggest misunderstandings or will Grace continue to be a hard head and not listen to what Noah has to say??? Grace and Noah dated for a while about a year ago and when Grace realized that she was falling in love with Noah she pushed him away because she was scared! Grace has only dated one other guy and he hurt really badly so now Grace has a hard time trusting men. Can Noah break through that and make Grace trust again???

Sometimes a connection etched in the sand of your heart never fades. It’s embedded in the deep seeded part of who you are; it always there and timelessly the characters of Kelly Elliott’s novels invoke raw, pure and powerful bonds between the romance of characters. As I sit down to write my review of Finding You, I’m characteristically rewind the clock to the very first book I read by Kelly; the first love, the first connection and through the 18 books I have now read Kelly charms whit, charisma, strength, heart and love with every footstep and page turn.

Finding You is the fourth book in the Love Wanted in Texas Series; a spin-off from the original Wanted series. Finding You focuses on Grace & Noah’s story and boy was it a treat to read, as I devoured it with in a day. I had been waiting for their stories as the whispers from previous books about this couple had me wanting to hear their story.

A fault in the line of truth divides Grace and Noah but the glass breaking doesn’t hold a candle to what happens when Noah comes back into Graces life. Expect to be swooned, feel the heart beat of two characters whose hearts however far away from each other are connected and to breathe the words of emotion that Kelly Elliott yet again displays in her raw passion and heart in writing characters with depth and beauty to be felt.

Grace and Noah’s story was built on the guidance of emotion, heart and the fight to be with the one you choose no matter what. The writing brought the knitted wholesome feel to the story as with Kelly’s book you truly feel the heart of the story shine beyond a shadow of doubt. I could mention many reasons why Grace and Noah fit like two puzzled pieces creating a completed heart, but I don’t want to give anything away. If you are a fan of Kelly Elliott’s Wanted Series and have followed Love Wanted in Texas, I highly recommend picking up this instalment; Finding You as it has all the elements of powerful love that create a master of beauty in my eyes in romance.

Noah and Grace'so story

Loved,loved, Loved Noah and Grace's story. After a misunderstanding, Noah and Grace come back together and never give up on each other. Thru all the struggles and tribulations that could tear couples apart, they stuck together and fought thru it. They are fully committed to each other. And Jeff always has me laughing. Kelly never disappoints and makes you fall in love with these characters so easily.

Drawing on the Library of Congress's 4.8 million maps and 60,000 atlases, this is an overview of cartography in different times and cultures. Veteran picture editor Virga upends our notion of maps as two-dimensional representations of physical spaces by presenting depictions of imaginative or spiritual territory: a 17th-century map of the soul has five entry points, each corresponding to one of the five senses. And while we're accustomed to maps being oriented north, Islamic and some other cartographers oriented their maps south, as in an eye-opening 1996 Upside Down World Map made in Australia that shows the down under continent approximately where we usually see Greenland. Virga provides historical, sociological and anthropological background to each map. Captions for the plates are so small as to be almost unreadable, making it difficult to follow Virga's interpretations of the maps. Still, this is one of those rare coffee-table books that deserves to be read, that repeatedly delights the eye while informing the mind about the rich variety of humans' attempts to orient themselves in the world. 201 color illus. Cartographia is a treasure that is waiting for map and history lovers of all generations to discover. This beautiful work of art will hold your attention for hours as you look at maps drawn on paper, on wood, on stone, on figurines, and in tapestries. World maps, metaphorical maps, a map depicting a square earth and round heaven, maps on warfare, and the Oregon Trail. From ancient maps to one of the human genome, they're all contained within the pages of this book.

The text brings history alive and helps to develop an understanding of the psychology and culture behind the creation of these charted representations.

Vincent Virga, "America's foremost picture editor," is well known in history circles. Collaborating with The Library of Congress (where more than five million maps reside), he has put together an awesome book illuminating the diversity of people who populate our planet. Beautiful and interesting

The most beautiful book on map history that I've seen. The text is learned yet very accessible, and the images well chosen and printed. Virga's attention to the politics of maps repeatedly hits the right note. The production is everything you might expect from the Library of Congress. I own one and have given others as gifts. (Heresy disclosure: I've even cut up a much-worn used copy to make framed maps and handmade stationery.)

Where's the bibliography?

Although this is an attractive coffee table book, the lack of a bibliography is troubling. Vincent Virga does not cite the scholars whose ideas he disseminates. Virga admits in the acknowledgments that he didn't "get" maps or mapmaking when he started the project. Yet, he takes credit for the ideas, as if by hanging out with scholars and librarians at the Library of Congress, he was able to come up with a "new approach" to cartography and to understand the map history of every corner of the globe. This would take a lifetime of study. One of his main sources is the multi-volume encyclopedic History of Cartography published by University of Chicago Press, which introduces and explains many of the same maps. Yet he never cites this important and original work nor refers his readers to it. In fact, he does not cite a single book or article.

More ethical and scrupulous nonfiction authors who write for a popular audience use endnotes and a bibliography or an annotated bibliography to give credit to the scholars and authors whose work they popularize. Virga's "cartobibliography" shows only where he got permission to reprint the images. Without a real bibliography, most readers will never find the scholarly works where Virga got his ideas. It is troubling that the Library of Congress participated in this project on
those terms.

DESCRIPTION The goal of this book is to help the student experience chemical engineering to the fullest extent possible within the constraints of limited time and limited student background. In pursuit of that goal, it teaches the freshman to solve quantitative problems, although at a low level of complexity and within a scope that is narrow and well-defined. These quantitative topics include material balances (reacting and non-reacting systems), fluid flow (including the sizing of pumps), mass transfer (diffusion and convection), chemical reactor design, heat transfer (including the design of heat exchangers), and engineering economics. As examples of the limited scope of these topics, the treatment of material balances for reacting systems is limited to single process units with one chemical reaction, and the treatment of fluid flow applications is restricted to the use of the mechanical energy balance where friction is mentioned, but friction factors and methods for determining friction losses are not introduced. Spreadsheets are also taught, and homework problems throughout the book give the students practice with this tool. In addition, a number of qualitative descriptions are presented in the text, including chapters on problem solving, engineering teamwork, and process control. Finally, the students are given a few writing assignments to illustrate the important role of written communication in engineering.
