Human Parasitology, Second Edition, provides succinct coverage of the ways that human parasites illustrate myriad aspects of the biology of parasitism. Intended for a one-semester course, this thoroughly revised text includes updated references to primary research, new chapters on parasites that afflict AIDS patients, new illustrations, and coverage of emerging and increasingly important parasites such as Cryptosporidium and Cyclospora. Intended to appeal to a wide variety of students in the health professions, as well as to biology students in related disciplines, this comprehensive yet compact book will be useful as a reference both in and out of class.

About the Author
Burton J. Bogitsh received his undergraduate education in biology at New York University (University Heights) and his graduate education at Baylor University (M.A.) and the University of Virginia (Ph.D.). He is currently Professor Emeritus of Biological Sciences at Vanderbilt University. He has authored more than 100 publications in the area of parasitology and has co-authored a textbook in General Zoology. He is an associate editor of the Journal of Morphology, co-editor of Volume 2 of the Microscopical Anatomy of Invertebrates, and has contributed many chapters to numerous edited volumes on parasitology. His research interests are in the ultrastructural localization of enzymes in helminths with a primary focus on the digestive tracts of trematodes.

Dr. Carter received his B.A. and M.A. degrees in biology at Loma Linda University and his Ph.D. degree at the University of California at Los Angeles. He is currently a Professor Biological Sciences at Vanderbilt University. He has authored more than 70 publications with a primary focus on the biochemistry and immunology of parasites. He has contributed chapters in several edited volumes such as The Biology of the Tapeworm, Hymenolepis diminuta, and has served on the editorial board of the Journal of Parasitology. His current research interests are centered on the host-parasite interactions of the causative agent of Chagas’ disease, Trypanosoma cruzi.

This "Human Parasitology" text provides a balanced introductory view, as it concerned the interactive association between various parasites and their hosts. Its concise and reader-friendly format is a big plus: as it ensured that anyone who reads it will understand the message.
This book is clinically relevant. Its carefully selected contents were designed in such a way that will appeal to students of Zoology, Medicine, Veterinary medicine, Microbiology, Medical laboratory science, and Agriculture.
Discussed in details are various intestinal parasites like: Nematodes, Cestodes, and Trematodes. It also took care of many pathogenic protozoa like: Plasmodium and Entamoeba species. And, there are well-written chapters, which thoroughly analyzed both the Laboratory Diagnosis of Parasitic Diseases and the capabilities of various Antiparasitic Agents.

About the Author
Paul Lauter is the Smith Professor of Literature at Trinity College. He has served as president of the American Studies Association and is a major figure in the revision of the American literary canon.

Richard Yarborough is Professor of English and African American Studies at the University of California-Los Angeles. His work focuses on African American literature and on the construction of race in U.S. culture. He directs the University Press of New England's Library of Black Literature series.

John Alberti teaches at Northern Kentucky University and has a Ph.D. in American literature from UCLA. His main area of research is multicultural American literature and culture.

Mary Pat Brady teaches U.S. Literature. She has written extensively on contemporary U.S. Latino literature.

Dr. Bryer is an expert on F. Scott Fitzgerald and is president of the International F. Scott Fitzgerald Society. He was an editor of DEAR SCOTT, DEAREST ZELDA: THE LOVE LETTERS OF F. SCOTT AND ZELDA FITZGERALD (Macmillan).

I used this for an American Lit class, and it had a lot of different works in it by a variety of authors. I especially liked the focus on narrative fiction, and the inclusion of works written by women and people of color. Overall, a nice textbook for the class.

It gives a very interesting perspective into American history. It has many historical important figures that give their opinions of the time. It changes the way you see American history and gives multiple opinions/perspectives on events, which really opened you eyes. The product came in great condition, even though I bought it used.

Reading the works by Dr Beatrice Leung

I have previously read other books by Dr Beatrice Leung. This is the second book of her I bought in 2 years time. All her books were well written, informative and educational.

There is one particular enjoyable thing reading her book -- she was always able to integrate the church history with historical events and gave readers fresh perspective on church development from a sociological point of view. The amount of research the authors did in preparing this book was by all means admirable.

2 suggestions:
1) It will be more convenient to readers if an index section can be added. Currently when I want to search the book, I must go to google books to search then mark in the book I have on hand.
2) Bishop James Edward Walsh was released in the year of 1970. Given that the authors were so knowledgable in the Church history, this was probably be just a typing mistake.

About the Author
Dr. med. Frank Sommer was born in Aachen in 1967. He went to school as well as to university to study medicine in Cologne. After that he worked for some time as a physician in London. Later-on, when working at the clinic for urology he mainly focused on the science and research in the area of male sexual disturbances. In 1996 he was awarded the first price during the European Urology Congress in Paris for the scientific work he was doing back then. 1997 he became the Hessian Fitness-Aerobic Master and with this demonstrated not only his sports know-how but also his physical fitness as well. As a sports physician and urologist he is interested in the cohesions between potency and sports. He has held many noted lectures about this topic in numerous international events. Presently Dr. med. Frank Sommer works as a specialist for urology at the largest urology clinic in Germany, the Paracelus Clinic Golzheim in Dusseldorf.
