I liked this book very much! This book was my begining book in high school, it influenced my descision to remain in French class, and helped me learn the basics. This book, is a very helpful book indeed. I'm in french 4 now, and if it wasn't for this book I probably wouldn't have gone into french 3 and 4. If you want to begin and learn a languge, this is definitly a great book...to BEGIN! "Blanc" and "ROuge" are also excellent books to get if you want to further your knowledge and vocabulary. Je vous dîre...BONNE DE LA CHANCE!!!!!!!

the most important structures book for architects

This is ASTRONOMICALLY THE BEST architectural structures book of all time!! This is the second book for a serious architecture student or architect to buy after Deplazes' foundation book. My structures education was so frustrating because it was not VISUAL. I longed for a book like this 20 years ago!! But better than I could have ever imagined, this book is intensely visual, almost no numbers, instead an encyclopedic catalogue of structural spanning options in a maniacally ordered logic, drawn with a sweet German version of Ching's style. Just skimming this book several times will aquaint you with the logic, the systems, the options, and the breathtaking possibilities this great book throws at your feet. "Take that", it says, "and go do something great!"

Another reviewer mentioned that this book is the most important structures book for architects. I would agree, but do not necessarily agree that it cannot be read as a standalone book. There is a lot of intuitive insight that can be gained from this book with no prior learning, but the reader must pay close attention and have a very good idea of how to visualize forces and their impact on structures. Readers looking for a technical manual will be sorely disappointed as all the technical details are expected to be provided by the readers themselves.

With that said, I was able to read this book without any formal knowledge of structural statics and grasp many of the concepts on the first try. But coupled with hands-on structural learning material such as Form and Forces by Edward Allen and Waclaw Zalewski the information will become instantly powerful and applicable. In fact I would say Form and Forces and Structure Systems are the key pieces of a visual understanding of structures combined with the quantitative methods required to design and interpret structures. Start with Form and Forces, then after completing all the exercises therein, pick this up and read ALL of it. It is not just a guide for daydreaming or slick collection of nice line drawings - it is a user's manual for those bold and imaginative enough to use it as such.

Many own it, few have really read it, and fewer still have actually used it. Be one of the latter and you'll blow people away.

Very exciting diagrams!

Lots of excellent diagrams illustrating structural systems. This book is an encyclopedia of structural diagrams for architects. Structural engineers will find it useful as well. The diagrams are explained quite well. The reader should have a sound understanding of basic structural behavior to fully appreciate this book. It's a picture book and not a book which explains any calculations. Excellent for bedtime reading and fantasizing.

Helpful Zelda guide

I love this beautiful guide. This guide had beautiful pictures and it shows how to find the power ups, the pieces of heart, and weapons, it had the maps of dungeons and Hyrule, how to beat mini-games, It shows where to go next, and how to beat the bosses. If you have any problems, you can buy this guide and I promise that this guide is very helpful.

A useful companion to a challenging game

The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds - Collectors Edition Game Guide

Hard on the heels of the releases of Nintendo's latest game in the Zelda franchise - "A Link Between Worlds" - Prima Publishers has issued a companion game guide in a collectors edition.

For this amateur gamer I find these Prima guides indispensable. The guide is an encyclopedia of walk through helps, location of hidden items and hint for solving puzzles and defeating various evils doers. Numerous world maps in the back of the book are keyed with locations of places to visit, to avoid, and treasure locations and temples.

You certainly don't need a guidebook to play this game. Some folks feel a guide detracts from the challenge of solving the various riddles and defeating the bosses. I find having the guide very helpful when I reach a dead end, but that's one person's opinion.

The collector's edition is a large hardbound book measuring 8.5 inches by 11, gilt edged and 320 pages long. The cover boards are light green with a stylized gold border with a Zelda/Triforce design imprinted on the front cover. To my knowledge this is the fifth Zelda Collectors Edition published by Prima - the only difference is the other editions is the color of the hardbound boards.

Highly recommend as an attractive Legend of Zelda collectable and a useful companion to a challenging game.

Good, but a few notable flaws

On the whole, this is a much better effort than the Skyward Sword guide. Maps are great, and the item lists and locations were very valuable time savers. There are two major errors in the guide to be aware of;

1. It tells you that Ravio's item rental shop is opened right after you get the Power Glove, but you also need to get the Zora Flippers first before it opens.
2. More importantly, for the final battle of the game, it tells you to shoot arrows behind you all the way around the wall from the start, but this only works on the THIRD time; before that, you have to shoot normally, un-merge with the wall and then merge BEHIND the boss to shoot him. I had to use a free online guide to figure that out because the book was wrong; disappointing, and at a crucial time.

Other than that, this is a great guide, and was invaluable for collecting all the items. It's worth that cost alone. Just be aware of those few errors and you'll be fine.

Excellent except...

I found the transcriptions very accurate and give it 5 stars for that, but there are a couple of things you should be aware of before purchasing:

1. To get all the parts on a page, they made the type rather small. This is probably only a concern to those of us that were alive when the album was first released and are now wearing bifocals.

2. If you look closely at the title on the book, you'll see "Selections From". Songs from the album that were missing from the book are: Sweet Virginia, Loving Cup, All Down the Line, Stop Breaking Down, and Shine a Light.

I don't want to discourage you from choosing this book. It's very good and you'll really enjoy learning this great selection of tunes from an excellent album.

Buyer Beware

Buyer beware...this item is falsely advertised. It is actually "Selections from Exile on Main Street" and not the complete score. Whomever made the 'selections' is an idiot, in my opinion, as they left the best songs out. It's like buying a painting and sections of it are missing. It is beyond me why the integrity of a work of art like this album would be messed with in this manner and sold as complete. This product is a complete falsehood. Do not buy this garbage!

Study Materials

I bought this book for use as study materials for the geriatric specialty credentials. It was a nice price, cheaper than the other usual place that sells it, and it was the most up to date version. Informative and useful. It does not have plentiful graphs/tables/charts, and it is in black and white. I would have preferred more charts. Each chapter has its own list of references. Complete with index.

I gave this book a 3 start because it is filled with relevant information regarding LTC nutritional standards of care. However, if you are buying this book to get CEP, as someone wrote under another review, be aware that the book does not include the test or the option to reclaim CPEs. I guess one had to buy a separate test from another website that selll just the test for more money that the book itself!

Great book at less then half the price of other ones I've found. I got a great deal on the 30 credit test that goes with the book from another company thar wanted $149.00 for the book. Don't think you could get 30 credits cheaper any place else.

A heavy read which demands thorough attention, but worth it!

Gottman's 1994 book comes on the heels of groundbreaking work in behavioral observation methodologies. Trained as a mathematician, Gottman spares us no quantified details. However, quantification and reliable measurement are the indispensible components of good scientific research of which Gottman's work is a nearly overwhelmingly thorough example. Gottman takes us back stage to the development and the testing of hypotheses about what makes marriages tick and what makes them wind down in very convincing fashion. I lecture from this text in my university course and student attention is usually very high and they ask many questions. The fact that Gottman can predict marital dissolution, in some instances, at better than 90%, is itself a testament to his rigourous and insightful work. Isn't that one of the main points of science: to predict?

SCAM -- these practice tests don't match the ACT and are far easier

This book is a scam. Crazy that McGraw-Hill would publish such a book. For reasons that make no sense, they fill the book with "ACT Practice Tests" that are materially different than the types of questions on the ACT and on balance the overall tests are much easier than the real ACT. If you're going to error on either side, wouldn't you want practice tests a bit more challenging than the real tests? Seems very irresponsible for them to release this deceptive book.

While it does contain a good general review

This book contains significant errors. Specifically - test 6 and 7 both have a ratio problem that is incorrectly explained and the answer is wrong. Test 2 has an error in one of the science passages (but the explanation is correct - its just wrong on the multiple choice). So USE THIS BOOK WITH EXTREME CAUTION! While it does contain a good general review, it is not hard enough to raise a child's score past a 26 or 27. I am speaking from over 20 years as an ACT tutor. Go back to the best - go to Barrons! it works better
