From Skip to my Lou, to The Lion Sleeps Tonight to Jambalaya!

Having played the uke for 2 years, I found this book to be a wonderful review. It even taught me some things I missed in those classes I took at the local university. The book is beautifully organized and offers a common sense step by step approach to improve any uke player's repertoire. I highly recommend it for the begiinner and entermediate player alike. How could you go wrong with a book that takes you from Skip to my Lou, to The Lion Sleeps Tonight to Jambalaya. What fun!

Will have you knowing the basics in no time

Easy to follow book that works through the basics at a great pace whether you know how to read music or if you have never okayed any other instrument in your life. The cd is a great reference and gives you an idea of what it should sound like when you play it. I have never played a stringed instrument and I was able to play most basic chords and scales after just a couple hours. My daughter is learning to play with me and she cannot read music and she is able to keep up with the book easily as well.

Good for learning to read western music notation

This book is in line with the Essential Elements series in that it teaches students how to read Western music notation. The song selection is OK but fairly out of date for an instrument that is so contemporary. Good tips and technique; recommended for students who wish to learn with a teacher.
